A global leader in air travel intelligence company from the UK had a pressing need to aggregate real-time flight details from various airline and travel websites. We had to monitor and extract live flight details like airline schedules, flight status, boarding time, flight duration, departure time, delays, and cancellations of 80,000 flights across 156 airports.
Challenges
We had to regularly track an extensive amount of flight details across various aviation and travel based companies. The flight status and schedule information were time sensitive and altered regularly that made the extraction more complicated and cumbersome process. Details of around 80,000 flights had to be extracted from over 80+ websites which were constantly changing.
How we solved the problem
Our team of data experts correctly identified the ideal sources among the various travel and flight websites and ranked it based on their reliability and availability. There were more than 100 websites that were identified. We automated extraction of live flight information like airline schedules, flight status, boarding time, flight duration, departure time, delays, and cancellations from these identified sites using ML algorithms. The aggregated flight information was delivered in XML format to aid easy integration with the client systems.
